Ellen
Aaronson
As a Medical Librarian, Ellen Aaronson has provided technical
and information services in a variety of settings from large university
medical centers to small community hospitals.
Ellen received her MLS from the University of Southern California
and went on to specialize in drug information services and clinical
medicine. Working with Medical Library Consultants, Ellen has
been successful in introducing and expanding library services
in a number of community hospitals and serves as a clinical online
search contractor for a major biotechnical/pharmaceutical firm.
Ellen is a Senior Member of the Academy of Health Information
Professionals, and accredited by the Medical Library Association.
She has held a variety of positions for the Medical Library Group
of Southern California and Arizona, and is an active member of
their Advisory Council.
Lucinda
Allshouse
Lucinda is a graduate of UCLA's Graduate School of Library and
Information Science. Her experience includes working at a variety
of libraries, from small and large hospitals to psychiatric and
University medical schools. Over the years she has specialized
in reference, audiovisuals and consumer health.
Betsey S. Beamish
Betsey S. Beamish founded Medical Library Consultants in 1980,
and served as President until 2001. Now a Senior Advisor, Betsey
graduated from Duke University, obtained a Masters of Library
Science Degree from UCLA, and worked for 16 years in the Louise
Darling Biomedical Library at UCLA prior to founding Medical Library
Consultants. Her positions at UCLA included serving as Director
of Medlars and Information Services, then as Director of Training
and Consulting Services for the Pacific Southwest Regional Medical
Library Service. She has more than 35 years of experience in health
sciences libraries and a broad knowledge about the health care
environment and its current challenges and issues.
She has been active in the Medical Library Association, serving
as president of the Hospital Library Section, as Credentialing
Committee Liaison to the local MLA Chapter, and as a member of
many committees, including the Hospital Library Standards Committee,
and the National Program Committee. She has also been active in
the Medical Library Group of Southern California and Arizona,
serving as the elected Representative to the MLA Chapter Council,
and as Chair of the Scholarship and Placement Committees. She
is a Distinguished Member of the Academy of Health Information
Professionals.
Fran Beattie
Fran Beattie is a librarian for Medical Library Consultants. She
is responsible for managing and promoting the libraries' hard-copy
and electronic information resources -providing recommendations
for their purchase and training in their use. She also makes available
librarian-mediated computer searches and copies of articles from
both onsite and offsite resources.
Fran has graduate degrees from the University of Southern California
in education and library science and is a member of the Academy
of Health Information Professionals. She has worked with Kaiser-Permanente
as their Management Librarian and as a medical librarian. In 1991,
she joined Medical Library Consultants.
Betsey Miller
Betsey received her MLS from the University of Southern California
in 1981. She was employed by St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach
and as a Reference Librarian at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory
in Pasadena.
Betsey has worked for Medical Library Consultants since 1993.
She is currently responsible for library services to 9 hospitals,
including Encino-Tarzana Regional Medical Center, Verdugo Hills
Hospital, Whittier Hospital Medical Center and The Motion Picture
and Television Fund. Betsey is a member of the Medical Library
Association.
